Frequently Asked Questions

Insurance & Financial Logistics

Do you accept commercial health insurance?

No. To provide unhurried, elite, and highly precise sports medicine care, my practice runs on a transparent direct-pay model. Removing corporate insurance middlemen — and the exhausting paperwork trails they require — lets me pass cost savings directly to you, quote prices with zero hidden fees, and spend genuine, dedicated time focused entirely on your recovery.

Can I use my insurance for procedures or consultations?

While I do not bill insurance companies directly, I can provide you with a superbill on request — an itemized medical receipt with standard diagnostic codes. You can submit that to your insurance provider to seek out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement rates depend entirely on your specific policy, and navigating that process with your carrier is the patient's responsibility.

Primary Care & Membership

Do I have to be a member to see you?

No. The practice is designed with ultimate flexibility — both Membership Tiers and Non-Member À La Carte options. You’re free to choose the path that fits your current health goals, budget, and lifestyle.

Will my membership cover all my primary care needs?

Yes — foundational primary care, visits, and standard clinical evaluations are fully covered for members. Labs & imaging are the exception: if we need diagnostic labs or outside imaging, you can either bill your regular health insurance, or, if uninsured or high-deductible, I'll use our practice's deep cash discounts to find you a vastly cheaper option.

Can I use my HSA or FSA cards?

Yes, 100%. Under the explicit guidelines of the Big Beautiful Bill, Direct Primary Care (DPC) memberships are fully recognized as eligible medical expenses. You can confidently use your pre-tax Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards to cover monthly membership fees, comprehensive sports medicine consultations, diagnostic ultrasounds, acute care procedures, and on-site laboratory fees. It's entirely seamless across the entire practice framework.

Care Coordination & Your Team

Can I see you if I already have a primary care doctor?

Yes, 100%. If you already have a primary care physician, I don't replace them — I work alongside them as your specialized sports medicine and musculoskeletal expert. No insurance referral required to book.

Will you communicate with my primary care doctor?

Absolutely. I'm happy to coordinate directly with your existing healthcare team. After our consultation I can contact your doctor and provide a comprehensive look at exactly what's happening in our clinic — ultrasound findings, treatment tracking, recovery plan — so everyone stays perfectly aligned.

Preparing For Your Evaluation

What should I bring to my consultation?

To give us the most complete picture of your history: any recent outside laboratory/bloodwork results, past imaging reports (X-rays, MRIs, ultrasounds), and the physical imaging discs (CDs) if you have them. Don’t worry if you can’t access past records before your visit — we can perform a comprehensive clinical exam and dynamic diagnostic ultrasound on day one, and I can always request historical records afterward.

What should I wear to my evaluation?

Loose, comfortable athletic clothing that allows easy physical access to the joint or muscle group we're evaluating — athletic shorts for knees/ankles, a loose t-shirt or tank for shoulders. If you come straight from work without athletic gear, don't stress; we provide medically appropriate examination clothing in the office.

Cancellation & Emergency Policy

What is your cancellation policy?

I dedicate a full uninterrupted block of time to each patient, so missed slots affect our community. For LISM Members: no cancellation fees — priority access lets you reschedule through your member portal. For Non-Members: we request at least 24 hours' notice for any cancellation or reschedule. Cancellations under 24 hours or no-show slots are subject to a standard cancellation fee, clearly listed alongside each visit type on our transparent pricing page.

What if a legitimate medical or family emergency comes up?

Life happens, and I'm a human being before I'm a doctor. If an unexpected emergency forces you to miss your slot under the 24-hour window, simply notify us in writing — text or email — as soon as you're safely able to. We'll review your situation compassionately and waive the standard cancellation fee.

Imaging & Diagnostics

Do you perform X-rays or MRIs in your facility?

No. To keep overhead low and pass cost savings directly to patients, we don't house heavy radiation or MRI machinery in-office. Instead, I perform real-time high-resolution diagnostic Musculoskeletal Ultrasound on-site to dynamically evaluate your muscles, tendons, and ligaments during your visit.

How do I get an X-ray or MRI if I need one?

If your evaluation indicates advanced structural imaging is necessary, I personally place an expedited order at one of our premier neighboring facilities. For X-rays: Baptist Health Radiology or Lexington Diagnostic Center. For MRIs: UK HealthCare (University of Kentucky), Baptist Health, or Lexington Diagnostic Center — whichever fits your timeline best.

Do you have a preferred imaging center?

Yes. Because I work closely with elite local orthopedic surgeons, my strong preference is Lexington Diagnostic Center or UK HealthCare. Their high-fidelity sequences and expert radiologist reads ensure that if your case ultimately requires a surgical consultation, the region's top surgeons receive the exact, pristine data they need to evaluate without delay. Rest assured — if my expertise handles your injury, we treat it here; if it requires a surgeon, I'll get you to the right hands.

Didn't find the question you came here for?

Send it directly. We'll answer you in writing, and if the question keeps coming up, we'll add it to this handbook so the next person doesn't have to ask.
